HEADLINES
Society Launches Consumer Web Site and Adds Employer Resources
The CPCU Society is launching a special consumer Web site in October to help
consumers become better informed insurance buyers and policyholders. The new
Web site, http://insurancehelp.cpcusociety.org,
promotes the benefits of teaming up with a CPCU, and helps consumers find a local
CPCU agent or broker. It also includes consumer-oriented articles on auto, homeowners
and small business insurance. Check it out today and tell your clients.
New
enhancements for employers: The Society
has added new resources specifically designed for insurance industry
employers to its Web site at www.cpcusociety.org.
Accessible from the home page by clicking on the “Employers” button
at the top, this new area describes “best practices” for
maximizing the value of the CPCU designation and Society membership.
It also reviews the latest studies on the impact of the three E’s
(education, ethics and excellence) on an employer’s bottom line.
Introduce it to key decision makers at your organization, and visit it
regularly to find out about the latest returns from investing in the
CPCU designation and CPCU Society. |

VITAL
INDUSTRY ISSUES
A Closer Look at Follow
Form Excess Liability Insurance
Commercial policyholders customarily rely upon a follow form excess liability
policy to address a catastrophic claim. To assure that this policy serves this
purpose, a follow form provision customarily is contained in the excess policy.
In the October CPCU eJournal article, “Follow
Form Excess Liability Insurance: Should the Primary Policy be Considered in Construing
the Excess Policy?,” William
J. Warfel, CPCU, Ph.D., CLU, explains how to recognize whether an excess
policy is a follow form policy or a stand alone policy. Read
it today, and subscribe to

‘SPREADING THE WORD!’
October
Visibility Spotlight Winner ‘Spreads
the Word!’ Graphically
Michelle Neils,
CPCU, found an impressive way to advertise not only her State Farm
agency, but also her CPCU designation. In front of her office, located
on a busy thoroughfare in West Chester, Pa., is a 6-by-12-foot sign announcing,
in large letters, her name and her CPCU designation. “Clients definitely
ask what the CPCU means. As well as my sign, it’s on my cards and
the advertising material I have printed. It helps open up a conversation,
and begins to personalize the importance of having a committed insurance
professional as their agent,” she said.
Read more in the October
Visibility Spotlight. In recognition for her “Spread
the Word!” efforts, Neils will receive a business card holder
with the CPCU Society logo.
Get the
recognition you deserve! To
be considered for the Visibility Spotlight, send
us an e-mail with
details on how you “Spread the Word!” Or send a submission
through any of the online
feedback tools.
Please include figures on how many people you have reached through
your visibility efforts. |
